Deep Brain Stimulation

We offer both medical and interventional treatment options for movement disorders. For some patients, medications are sufficient to control symptoms. For others, surgery may be required to achieve the desired results.

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is a safe, effective surgical approach for patients whose symptoms can’t be controlled by medications alone. Using MRI or CT scans to guide them, our neurosurgeons implant the DBS system in the area of the brain responsible for the functional symptoms. It then delivers high-frequency electrical stimulation to the targeted area, which interferes with the abnormal stimulations causing uncontrolled and debilitating movements. Please talk to your neurologist about this safe and clinically proven surgical implant and whether it is indicated for your condition.

Pain Management

Chronic or acute pain has a severe, negative impact on quality of life. Our pain program offers both medical and interventional options for pain management. When a pharmacological approach to pain management is insufficient, our fellowship-trained neurosurgeons or pain interventionists are highly experienced in surgical procedures to alleviate pain. These procedures include morphine pump implants, spinal cord stimulation implants, epidurals, nerve blocks, and radio-frequency treatments.
